What do Podiatrists
do?
Podiatrists
aim to improve the mobility, independence and quality of life for their patients. They provide assessment,
diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of problems affecting the feet, ankles and lower limbs. Treatments range
from simple nail cutting to biomechanical assessments, provision of orthotics and nail surgery.
Our Services include:
Nail Cutting – includes normal, thickened and more complex nail, eg
Ingrowing.
Corns/Callus –this
not only involves the removal of corns and hard skin but also advice on how to prevent its reoccurrence.
Nail & Skin Conditions – diagnosis and treatment
of bacterial and fungal foot infections.
Biomechanical Assessment – a basic gait assessment is carried out to help identify possible causes
of foot and ankle pain. A typical treatment plan may include specific exercises and/or orthoses/insoles.
Provision of Orthotics & Insoles – these may need
to be prescribed for a variety of reasons, eg High arches, pronation and leg length differences. The orthotics can be adapted
to meet the individuals needs.
